I am so proud to be Canadian at this very moment. I don't think I have ever been more happier to be a citizen of this fantastic nation.
We entered these Vancouver 2010 Olympics never having won gold on home soil. However our slogan for the games was "Believe" as brought on by our "Own The Podium" program. I must admit that I was extremely skeptical of this because it seemed like we were counting our chickens before they'd hatched but I still believed that we could get some golds around our necks.
I never expected this many golds, though. In two weeks, our Canadian athletes managed to win 14 Gold Medals, thus breaking the record for most golds won by the host nation (previously held by the US in 2002), as well as the record for most golds won by any nation at any Olympic games (previously held by the former USSR).
We overcame ridicule, criticism, and adversity and rose to the top. Alexandre Bilodeau "broke the curse" and won our first gold at home, Joannie Rochette skated with everything she had while mourning the loss of her mother, we skated and skiied hard, manoeuvered our bobsleighs just right, and danced our way to victory.
Today's gold won by the men's hockey team was the icing on the cake. Both of Canada's hockey teams managed to edge out the US teams for hockey gold. Proof that hockey truly is Canada's game.
So suck it America.

Valentine's Day
I originally posted this entry on February 14th, 2008 on LiveJournal. The group name was 021408 "Cupid's Drop Box" where people could write Valentine's to their loved ones, crushes, friends, family, etc and post them either with their username or anonymously. I've yet to look this year, but I'm sure another community was formed using the name: 021410. I wonder if the person who wrote the letter is still posting it ...
So in honour of Single's Awareness, I'm going shopping with my mum today ;)

Just out of curiosity, I went to the LJ community, Cupid's Drop Box (021408) and looked in at the e-Valentine's being left and came across this one:
Dear Self,
You are lovely and although you are single on Valentine's Day, you also get to spend all your money on me.
Don't worry, he's out there, and after all this time spoiling yourself you'll look just dazzling when you meet him.
I'm not worried, you shouldn't be either.
So Self, I hope we have a wonderful holiday and perhaps this will make someone else smile in the process.
Shine on beautiful girl, no one's called last dance just yet.
Love,
Yourself
(A Happy Valentine's Day to all those other one's listening in...)
Whoever wrote this is amazing (it was posted anonymously) ... haha. Totally brought a smile to my face.
Happy Single's Awareness Day!!!! =D

Twitter.
If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I update it constantly. If I annoy you with my non-stop updates, feel free to unfollow me ... especially if we never speak anyway.
Sometimes I update to keep certain people "in the know" because they're not seeing the same things I'm seeing and I like to discuss with them. Don't assume I'm updating just for myself or for you. So seriously, unfollow me if I piss you off that much. I won't miss you.
kthxbai ;)

My Week in Review
This week has been a total rollercoaster in terms of how I've been feeling ... I don't really feel like elaborating much so I'm just posting the "word cloud" of everything that's gone on this past week, in a non-chronological order.
Annoyance. Frustration. Stress. Rejection. Thinking. Hurt. Dangerous. Laughter. Sadness. Stress. Good. Smile. Questioning. Protest. Stunned. Shock. Fear. Stupidity. Running. Avoidance. Pencil-stabbing. Bored. Reluctance. Determination. Life. Stress. Quit. Discouraged. Stress. Panic. Jealousy. Longing. Realization. Acceptance. Apathy. Letting go. Anger. Stress. Fake. Excitedness. Crashing down. Reality bites. Life stinks. Motivation.
Despite it all, I always have to remember that it could always be worse. My life really isn't that bad and I can't sweat the small stuff. I just have to keep my head on straight and focus on my goals.
Remember Ruby.
