Late Night with Adrienne.

It's 1:30 a.m. and I am literally stuck in a rut ... or a few ruts, rather.

I've been contemplating getting rid of a number of people on my Facebook. People I don't talk to anymore. People I never got along with in the first place. People who made my life miserable in one way or another. People that I need to let go of.

But what's the real reason for getting rid of them? Is it to complete closure? To fully close the wounds? To finally prove that when I say "I'm over this" I mean it? Or is it just for the selfish reason that I cannot handle even a tiny piece of the past coming back to haunt me?

I battled with depression once, it seems like lifetimes ago now, but every so often, one little remnant of the past affects me like nothing else. So is it actually selfish to want to get rid of as many of those bad memories as I can?

After my depression I realized that I need to prioritize myself. I'm not useless, spineless, or worth nothing. I'm worth a lot. I matter. I need to do things for me.

I suppose I have my answer then ... I need to buck up and truly move on from my past. I can't merely forget about the past, it's not that easy, but I can definitely look beyond it. I can't keep dragging myself down with the little things that were. I need to focus on now and the future.

Love and Summer?

"A life without love is like a year without summer." - Swedish Proverb

Hmm ... when I first read this quote, I said: "That's bullshit." But then I got to thinking, Calgary didn't really have a summer this year (2009; honestly, does a week of +30 C weather count as summer? I don't think so) and it made me cranky and kinda gloomy. I mean, I love rain but I suppose I could've done with more sunshine and heat - would've meant more time outside to spend with friends.

So a life without love would make me cranky and gloomy?

Well, it's a good thing I've got a whole lot of love in my life. My family, my friends, my Twitter family ... okay, so maybe the quote is talking about that other kind of love, like "significant other" kind of love. I haven't experienced that kind of love yet, but for now I'm perfectly happy with the love I have.

Merry Christmas [Eve]!!!

I would just like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas Eve, I hope you all find yourselves in good company: laughing, smiling, and celebrating. May this Christmas be cheerful and bright and be merely one of many to come.

I'd also like to take the time to thank our dear Ruby Siketa because without her, I would not have met all the amazing people from Twitter that I have this year. You all are amazing and I'm so blessed and grateful to have you all in my life - even if the internet and our computer screens act as proxies ;)

I love each and everyone of you.

Merry Christmas again and Remember Ruby.

Much Love,
- Adrienne

Look Ma, No Pants!!!!

Just kidding. But seriously, I'm super frustrated with my pants situation. This morning I couldn't get my jeans on properly. Why? Because I can NEVER seem to find a pair that fit just right. Skinny jeans are either too tight at the thighs and/or calves or too loose at the hip/bum or both! Boot cut jeans are usually too big at the bum. Straight leg jeans are also too big at the bum. I don't understand why there are jeans for people with big bums but not for us who are lacking in that department!

Back to the skinny jean issue ... I have muscular calves and thighs so usually they don't fit properly into skinny jeans. I have a few pairs but unfortunately I had to compromise, I bought the ones that were for a size up in the hip/waist department because my calves wouldn't fit into my usual size.

Ugh!

Is it too much to ask for someone to design a jean for those of us with ....... I don't even know how to describe it ....... athletic bodies? I love wearing jeans but now I'm just frustrated.

Hair Cut!

Well ... I'm finally done all of my final exams for this semester! YAY!!!! =D

Partly because I'm in a feel-good mood today, despite being dead tired, and partly because I've been planning this for a few weeks now, I got my hair cut this morning! I posted the look that I was sorta going for a few entries back, but here is the actual result!

Before - sort of layered, but they were all long layers, and side bangs:

After/Now - layers galore (I wish the picture showed them off more)! And front, layered fringe:

What do you all think of it?? I'm not really crazy about how she cut my bangs, but I live by the ... um ... 14 day rule? I don't actually remember how many days this rule is, but give it a week or so and I'll like my fringe again. haha. =3

Honestly, I kind of feel like Joan Jett ...

Ugh.

I absolutely abhor final exams at 8 am.

Hooray for writing exams only merely 5 hours of sleep.

Bleh.

Good night!

Sweet Childhood Memories.

I should REALLY be studying ...

I just had to devote some time to making an entry about one of my childhood obsessions that has transcended to current times. Personally, I blame @saralinho and @katiecheel for bringing me to this tangent tonight. I'm just teasing, I'm just as much a guilty party for this Sailor Moon discussion.

I love watching Sailor Moon! Of course, the English version ticks me off sometimes but it's what really got me started into the realm of Japanese anime. I fell in love with the English version and will always adore it, however it irks me that Haruka/Amara and Michiru/Michelle are cousins in the Americanized version and not girlfriends. And that Zoicite and Fisheye were turned into women during the dubs. Not awesome. The relationships weren't even explicit/sexual so I don't see what the problem was ... oh homophobia.

Anyway, back to the point: I LOVE SAILOR MOON. Always have, always will. =)

Serenity and Endymion ... oh how I always dreamed of having a romance like theirs. <3

So cute!

=)

Public Transit.

I'm frustrated so this will be a rantrantrant and bitchbitchbitch sort of entry. Feel free to ignore this update.

I don't usually mind public transit, except in the following instances:

1) Whenever the bus/train is late, especially when it's freezing cold outside. Like, -30C and below. Of course, if it's the weather, I can't really blame Transit.

2) When the bus/train is ridiculously crowded. Some people just need to learn how to wait; during rush hour the trains come every 5 minutes, provided there aren't any delays. Of course Murphy's law dictates that the train will always be late. =\

3) WHEN PEOPLE SIT ON ME!!! For goodness sake, I'm a freaking STICK!!! There should be no reason for your bottom to crush my hip thankyouverymuch. I'm always courteous and sit as close to the side/window as I can, so don't please don't cross the median. Can I mention that anyone who has ever sat on me has never been over-weight or obese? So really, there's no excuse!

Rant over.

Boredom.

I'm awfully bored as I'm waiting for my study group mates to get here. So I'm going to blog because: boredom plus the fact that I'm feeling a bit narcissistic today (only joking!)

I've been wanting to get a haircut for a while now, though I don't really want to get rid of my length. I'm just really sick of my side fringe/bangs right now. Over the years I've been known to change up my hair style really dramatically: I go from elbow-length to mid-ear length, shoulder-length to an extremely short bob, or shoulder-length to a short layered style. This time I think I'm just going to get layers and the front fringe.

Like so:

What do you think? Perhaps I'll post an entry later on with my previous (and crazy) hairstyles.

Shoes?

Honestly, I have been obsessed with shoes since I was a little girl. Shoes and purses, actually. Unfortunately, I was injured a few years ago (from dancing) and am restricted as to what types of shoes I wear now. I can get away with wearing flats and high heels (higher than 1.5 inches) but I can't wear either for very long (or at least, stay on my feet for very long) without my knee hurting.

Recently there's been a huge surge of shoe lines coming out and they've been made even more prominent by pop culture: mentions in song lyrics, red carpet appearances, etc. Just to name a few: Jimmy Choos ("T-Shirt" by Shontelle) and Christian Louboutin ("Louboutins" by J.Lo ... of course I'd like this song more if she actually pronounced the name right!).

Anyway, back to the point ... I REALLY want a pair of Louboutins. Every time I see a pair, either on a woman strutting her stuff down the street, or on the TV, or online I scream inside in jealousy because I wish I had a pair. It also, doesn't help that I follow Dita Von Teese on Twitter and she's always tweeting about how she loves her Louboutins or how she has a new pair that've been custom made just for her burlesque shows. I know the super high heels would absolutely KILL my knees but, I firmly believe they would be worth it.

Oh to be a student and unable to afford all the things I really want. I admit, I don't wear brand name clothing but when it comes to shoes and purses, I go all out. Unfortunately I think I'm gonna have to wait a few years to get my first pair of Louboutins ... but I'll get them one day, I promise.

Aren't they not some of the most gorgeous shoes you've ever seen?! I'm making myself sick looking at them but knowing I can't afford them right now.

New Blog!!!!

I know, I know, I already have a blog over at Livejournal, but that one goes a little too personal for me to open up to absolutely everyone.

I wanted something that could be updated whenever: little one-liners, random inspirations, jokes, quirks, and pictures of my favourite outfits! A blog that could be open for everyone to see. This is the reason I titled this as "Proceed with Caution" because you never know what you'll find in this blog! I can be quite random at times, so prepare yourselves for a rollercoaster ride.

Many of you know me as @sinfulx from Twitter (I tried to get the same domain name for this blog, unfortunately someone had already taken it ... and hasn't updated since 2005. Ugh!) so you'll already be used to many of my quirks and have already gotten accustomed to my random ways.

Anyway, I hope this blog is as fun for you all as it will be for me!
